Religion- Today we went over the Liturgical year in the Church. Tomorrow we will continue to work on Chapter 5 with reading and discussion. There will be a quiz on Chapter 5 on Friday. Next week, there will be a Unit test on Thursday, Nov. 15. We will also get ready for all-school mass and the students will be reading a book about a saint and journal about it each day. They will write a short paper and a presentation at the end of the month. Nicene Creed is due at the end of the month.

Sorry if I caused any confusion. I posted Monday night's blog yesterday since I must have saved it as a draft. So there are two for Tuesday. What a bonus!!!!
6TH
Religion: Tonight the students need to finish their illuminated scripture verse. Tomorrow we will start Chapter 2. Remember the memorized prayer.
English: We went over their 5 picture/subject sentences. Some need to re-do to get a better grade. We copied all our English words that use the Greek & Latin root words. The students need to finish and label an number line with the Greek or Latin root word.
7th
Religion- Today we worked in pairs to find Bible verses. Students must finish for homework tonight.
Don't forget memorized prayer.
English- We went over last week's quiz on adverbs. We still need to work on them. We took notes from a power point presentation on Adjective and Adverb phrases. Students wrote their own phrases in class. Students must look up English words related to the Greek and Latin root words.
8TH

Religion- Today the sixth grade reviewed for the quiz. They have a study guide and a worksheet to review. This week we will read Chapter 2 and take a quiz next week. Tuesday the students will finish an Illuminated scripture verse. We will take notes and discuss. Memorized prayer is due next week.
English- Today we reviewed nouns and the student have a worksheet to complete. We will go over nouns in pictures as well as verbs. After this review, we re-visit subject and verbs and take a test next week. We will work with Greek and Latin root words this week.
7TH
Religion- Quiz tomorrow. We did review in class today. Tomorrow we will go over the sections of the Bible and continue on to Chapter 2. We will take notes and discuss. Memorized prayer due next week.
English- Today we went over Greek and Latin roots. We connected the roots in a picture. This week we will define the English words and use them in sentences. We went over prepositional phrases and did exercises 12 and 13 on pgs. 323-326. Tomorrow we will go on to adjective and adverb phrases.

English- Today we continued review on nouns. Tonight 6th grade needs to write 5 sentences using their picture of a noun as a subject. Tomorrow we will do the same with verbs. Thursday we will go over punctuation and Friday on fragments and run on sentences. Vocabulary will consist of a number line to label tomorrow and definitions on Thursday with a skit on Friday.

Religion- This week we will start Chapter one. We will explore the Bible and learn how to look up scripture. Today, Monday, we read about St. Jerome and tonight the students need to list 5 to 8 facts about the saint. Tuesday we will create headlines for Bible stories and play a scripture game. The students will create an illuminated scripture verse and go over symbols of the Holy Spirit. An assessment of chapter one will be given next Tuesday. Everyday we write in journals. Memorized prayer is Morning Offering.
English/Vocabulary- Review all week: subject and verb as well as nouns and pronouns, and types of sentences with punctuation. Quiz on Friday. New vocabulary words this week will be Greek and Latin root words. Test next week.
7TH GRADE:
Religion-Finish overview of the Gospel of John. Students worked in groups on a brochure that illustrates the overview. We will begin reading and taking notes on Chapter one. We write a daily journal. Assessment on Chapter one on Tuesday. Memorized prayer is Morning Offering.
English/Vocabulary- Review verbs and adverbs as well as subject and predicates. Quiz this Friday.

First Week of School
Welcome Back!
Instead of a Friday letter, all of the information for the week will be on the blog as well as daily homework. This week we will go over many of the rules.
6TH GRADE:
Religion- Tuesday the students will be introduced to the religion book and my expectations. We will start making journals for class and organize their binders. Wednesday the students will finish their journals and begin writing their first entry. We will go over the monthly memorized prayers for the year. Thursday we will begin the first chapter in the religion book, prayer and journal.
English- Tuesday the students will receive the English book. We will go over expectations and do a review lesson on parts of speech. Greek and Latin root words will be introduced. Wednesday we will correct the review lesson and have a quiz on the heading of their paper. Drawing activity with the root words. Thursday we will continue reviewing parts of speech. Friday we will have a quiz on parts of speech.
7TH GRADE:
Religion- Introduce the book and the expectations. We will make journals for class and organize their binders. Wednesday we will finish the journal and write the first entry. We will go over the monthly memorized prayers for the year. We will start the first chapter in the religion book and continue readings and discussions.
