First Week of School

Welcome Back!
Instead of a Friday letter, all of the information for the week will be on the blog as well as daily homework.  This week we will go over many of the rules.
6TH GRADE:
Religion- Tuesday the students will be introduced to the religion book and my expectations.  We will start making journals for class and organize their binders.  Wednesday the students will finish their journals and begin writing their first entry. We will go over the monthly memorized prayers for the year.  Thursday we will begin the first chapter in the religion book, prayer and journal.
English- Tuesday the students will receive the English book.  We will go over expectations and do a review lesson on parts of speech.  Greek and Latin root words will be introduced.  Wednesday we will correct the review lesson and have a quiz on the heading of their paper.  Drawing activity with the root words. Thursday we will continue reviewing parts of speech.  Friday we will have a quiz on parts of speech.
7TH GRADE:
Religion- Introduce the book and the expectations.  We will make journals for class and organize their binders.  Wednesday we will finish the journal and write the first entry.  We will go over the monthly memorized prayers for the year. We will start the first chapter in the religion book and continue readings and discussions.  We will end the week with the journal, prayer and continue reading the chapter.
English- We will pass out books and begin with a review lesson from last year.  We will organize the binder and go over expectations.  Wednesday there will be a quiz on heading the paper.  Introduce the Greek and Latin root words and do a drawing activity and look up the words.  Friday there will be a quiz on the review lessons.
8TH GRADE:
Religion- Introduce the book and expectations.  Work on the journal and start writing entries.  We will start the first chapter with notes and discussions.  We will go over the monthly memorized prayers for the year.
English- We will pass out the English books and organize their binders.  We will do a review lesson from the items covered last year.  A quiz on this review will be on Friday. There will be a quiz on the heading of the paper on Wednesday.  Greek and Latin words will be introduced and we will look them up and do a group activity with them.
