6TH GRADE:
Religion- This week we will start Chapter one. We will explore the Bible and learn how to look up scripture. Today, Monday, we read about St. Jerome and tonight the students need to list 5 to 8 facts about the saint. Tuesday we will create headlines for Bible stories and play a scripture game. The students will create an illuminated scripture verse and go over symbols of the Holy Spirit. An assessment of chapter one will be given next Tuesday. Everyday we write in journals. Memorized prayer is Morning Offering.
English/Vocabulary- Review all week: subject and verb as well as nouns and pronouns, and types of sentences with punctuation. Quiz on Friday. New vocabulary words this week will be Greek and Latin root words. Test next week.
7TH GRADE:
Religion-Finish overview of the Gospel of John. Students worked in groups on a brochure that illustrates the overview. We will begin reading and taking notes on Chapter one. We write a daily journal. Assessment on Chapter one on Tuesday. Memorized prayer is Morning Offering.
English/Vocabulary- Review verbs and adverbs as well as subject and predicates. Quiz this Friday.
Greek and Latin root words introduced this week. Test next week.
8TH GRADE:
Religion- Chapter one with the idea that God's Word is a gift to us. We will read and take notes as well as discussion. Assessment will be next Tuesday. Everyday we write in a journal. Memorized prayer is Morning Offering.
English/Vocabulary- Review parts of speech and sentence structure. Our focus will be on subject and verbs and punctuation. Quiz on Friday. Greek and Latin root words were introduced on Monday. We will work with these words for two weeks and take a test next week.
